Local Builders Shine

A desire to build a “classic” coastal family home, using materials that “should stand the test of time”, has won local builder, David McDonald the title of having the region’s best house.

The best home builders from Geelong and Western Victoria had their chance to shine at the Housing Industry Association’s 2007 Western Victoria Housing Awards last night.

Held on Friday night at Barwon Heads’ 13th Beach Golf Links, the housing awards celebrated the best in new homes, renovations, extensions an innovation.

David McDonald Builders won HIA’s prestigious Western Victoria Home of the Year for a custom-built home in Queenscliff.

This builder was also awarded best bathroom project of the year.

HIA’s Victorian executive director Caroline Lawrey expressed her excitement at the quality and innovation in the region’s housing.

“This year’s housing awards have been notable for the high standard of quality and value for money that is on offer to new home buyers and renovators.

“it is an exciting time to buy or design a house”, Ms Lawrey says.
